About our payment security

Written by Caleb Allott

Upstock partners with trusted, industry-leading payment providers to process payments securely. All payment processing on the Upstock platform is handled by Stripe and Pinch Payments β€” both of which use PCI DSS-compliant payment infrastructure and industry-standard security practices to help protect your payment data.

What is PCI DSS?

The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is the global security standard for organisations that store, process, or transmit cardholder data. Compliance with PCI DSS means a payment provider has met rigorous requirements for data encryption, access controls, network security, and ongoing monitoring β€” helping ensure payment information is handled securely.

Stripe

Stripe is a globally recognised payment provider used by companies such as Amazon, Shopify, and Xero. Stripe is certified as a PCI Service Provider Level 1 β€” the most stringent level of certification available in the payments industry. To achieve and maintain this certification, Stripe uses advanced security practices including data encryption, tokenisation, and continuous security monitoring.

Pinch Payments

Pinch Payments is an Australian payment platform that supports automated card and direct debit payments. Pinch uses PCI DSS-compliant payment infrastructure and security controls, including encrypted payment data transmission, tokenisation of card information, and fraud monitoring systems to help reduce risk and protect sensitive payment data.
